A Melbourne Based Artist with 40 years experience, Brigitte Dawson is renowned for her use of mixed media art that encompasses a wide range of styles that include but not limited to fine art to impressionism. Drawing inspiration from the human form for her paintings and sculptures, the expressionist within Brigitte is exposed on the canvas, or in the clay.  Brigitte sculpts using a variety of bases including brass, wood and stone.Specializing in Trompe l'oeil, and mural work Brigitte's extensive artworks can be seen throughout Melbourne city on a mirage of architectural facades, foyers and commercial spaces.  Brigitte is also commissioned extensively to undertake private mural and portraiture work within Australia and Internationally.  Her private work encompasses foyer murals, external residential murals, to entire floor to ceiling art consultation and design.A highly regarded professional within her industry, you can view her extensive collection of paintings and sculptures first hand at the La Casa Sawtellis Restaurant and Galleria in Tooradin from Wednesday to Sunday or by appointment.

  • 2 years spinning wool, dyeing the wool with natural recourses, tanning hides, making felt.
  • 6 week course basket weaving using natural recourses.
  • 2 year advanced diploma in ceramics at Holmsglen Chadston with Pat Formston
  • Many workshops in sculpture using a live model and clay.
  • 3 different life drawing classes
  • 18 mths Bronze course at RMIT with Mark Henry.
  • 2 years at Chadston Holmsglen learning the craft of Marble carving with Andrew Patience
  • Spent 1 month in Italy visiting the marble mines, Galleries and studying the frescoes. A goal is to return for longer and spend time at one of the art workshops carving marble.
  • Michelangelo has been a huge inspiration for me.
  • 1990 Started our own Business “Country Tiles” creating and hand painting tiles for homes.
  • 1992  I was commissioned to do my first mural

  • Owl & pussycat restaurant in melb.
  • Ongoing mural work for Fitness First and Genesis gyms. Fluro & glow in dark murals for their Cycle rooms. Also the childrens play area. In Sydney, Adelaide, Queensland and Melbourne.

  • Hannan Displays 15 years continuous work doing Sculpture, backdrops and murals for displays at Melbourne show or trade shows. Blackmore’s, Simplot, Parks and Gardens, Grand Prix,
  • Many private commissions doing Paint effects, Tromp e loil or murals for courtyards, children’s rooms etc.
  • Also portraits including pets.
  • 2004 I bought the business I had been working in for 5 years “Creative Boredom” I sculpted the original pieces for gardens or outdoor art. We then took molds and finished them with painted effects or hand painted the pieces. This was a wholesale business and we decided to find our own retail outlet which is the reason in 2007 took over a struggling nursery and turned into a destination Restaurant Gallery with my Partner, Robert. Beach St. Garden Gallery. 
  • My hunger to learn has never waned and will continue to paint and sculpt and have so much I want to do and plans to create that this lifetime won’t be enough.
